1. What are jumbled sentences?

A jumbled sentence is a group of words that is mixed up incorrectly, making it difficult to understand. Children have to arrange the words in an order to form a meaningful sentence.

2. Why should children learn them?

  • Jumbled sentences help students to learn grammar rules.
  • They learn when to use capital letters and full stop.
  • They learn how to position the subject, verb, and object in a sentence.
  • They understand how words fit into sentences.

3. How do they help with sentence formation and grammar?

By rearranging jumbled sentences, children train their brains to place the subject, verb, and object. They also learn how adjectives are used before nouns.

They understand how to use singular and plural subjects with nouns. Children of Class 1 can solve these sentences like a puzzle so that each sentence makes sense.

How to solve jumbled sentences?

  1. Look for the subject of a sentence that could be a noun or a pronoun.
  2. Look for the action verb which tells what the subject is doing.
  3. Look for what is receiving the action.
  4. Arrange the remaining words.
  5. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.
