Should Mobile Phones Be Allowed in School Essay

Technology has always done a wonderful job of bringing about significant changes in students’ lives. In this era, when communication plays a vital role in our life’s, students should be allowed to use mobile phones in schools. However, it may distract students from learning.

There are numerous reasons why I believe that mobile phones should be allowed in schools.  Firstly, many educational apps and online resources make it easier for students to learn. These apps provide a convenient and engaging learning experience. Secondly, in case there is any emergency, students can contact their parents. Mobile phones serve as a real-time safety tool for instant location sharing and SOS alerts.

Thirdly, help in quick research by allowing students to read research papers online, real-time data collection, and literature review for research papers. It makes it easier for them to conduct research and use various statistical tools. Fourthly, when children use digital devices, their technical skills improve. Children are able to use interactive platforms and also become proficient in coding.

On the other hand, mobile phones, when brought to school, can have a detrimental impact as they may distract students. When students are not able to focus on their studies during school hours, their grades will be affected. Some students may take phones into exams and cheat. They lose interest in reading books as they get addicted to online surfing. Students get addicted to their mobile phone and their screen time increases, which affects their eyesight and physical health.

To sum up, even though mobile phones act as a safety device, they also provide instant access to information and support learning needs through educational apps and online resources, but they lower students’ concentration, encourage sedentary habits, and distract them from learning. We can foster sensible phone usage among students in schools and make sure that it does not affect their studies. Therefore, we can allow mobile phones in school.
