Adverbs Worksheet Class 3

The Class 3 Worksheet on Adverbs is updated for the academic session 2025-26. The contents on English Vedas Blog are free to use and download. The worksheets can be given to the students to prepare for exams. The worksheets will reinforce grammar rules and improve writing skills.

When I teach adverbs to class 3 students, I use simple words, neatly, nicely, etc. I always tell them to write neatly and explain them why neatly is an adverb. It shows how they should write and how a verb is related to an adverb.

For instance, if I tell my students to sit quietly, they are able to relate the verb sit with the adverb quietly.

Students often confuse adjectives and adverbs, and this article will clear all their doubts.

An adjective describes the verb, whereas an adverb explains how a verb happens, where, and when it happens.

Let us compare an adjective and an adverb with the help of examples:-

AdjectiveAdverb
The soldier is very brave. The soldier fought bravely.
It was a bad game. Our team played badly.

What is an Adverb?

According to Cambridge Dictionary, “Adverbs are one of the four major word classes, along with nouns, verbs and adjectives. We use adverbs to add more information about a verb, an adjective, another adverb, a clause, or a whole sentence, and, less commonly, about a noun phrase.”

An Adverb is a word that adds to the meaning of a verb, and tells us how an action is done, when it is done, or where it is done.

For Example:

Ram speaks softly. (How)

Diane came yesterday. (When)

Tom lives here. (Where)

Teacher’s Note –

Encourage the students of class 3 to act out sentences to understand verbs. For example, “Read loudly!”, “Speak softly!”, “Sit quietly”, and “Write neatly”.

Give students 5 verbs and tell them to add an adverb to them. For example, run, write, play, sing, and play.

By following this method, students can retain adverbs and use them in their daily lives. I find this method quite effective and encourages engagement in the class.

Common Mistakes When Using Adverbs

  1. Use of an adverb in place of an adjective – Example:- He speaks in a soft way. He speaks softly. (Correct)
  2. Use of multiple adverbs- Example:- She shouted very loudly and then quickly ate the food. She shouted very loudly and ate the food. (Correct)
  3. Placing sdverbs incorrectly – Example:- She reads often in the library. She often reads in the library. (Correct)
